DAY 1 - APRIL 1
We will meet on Auckland's north shore at noon to check into our hotel. The lovely north shore is home to the most stunning panoramic views of the Auckland city skyline, surrounded by spectacular white sand beaches along the east coast bays.
Following lunch, we will kickstart our Auckland Treasures Photography Workshop. The next five days will be a jam-packed adventure exploring the land, seas and skies of breathtaking Auckland.
After settling into our hotel, we will get to know everyone in our group over dinner and look over the weather conditions for the week ahead.
We will then head out to photograph our first sunset along the city, as we watch the thousands of beautiful little lights illuminate the city skyline as sunset fades into the blue hour.
DAY 2 - APRIL 2
Bright and early, we will venture out along the quiet coastline of the east coast bays to capture the very first rays of light as the sun rises above the island of Rangitoto.
The volcanic Rangitoto Island is one of the most iconic landmarks in Auckland's city skyline. Sitting majestically off the coast, Rangitoto's distinctive symmetrical cone rises 260 meters over the beautiful Hauraki Gulf.
After our sunrise session, we will begin our very first photography master class where I will talk about the photography gear I use, basic functions of a DSLR, the foundations of shooting manual and an overview of Adobe Lightroom & Photoshop.
Following lunch, we will venture off to a breathtaking waterfall in the Waitakere Ranges, deep in the heart of Auckland's wild west.
Karekare falls, an attractive 25m waterfall gently trails down it's rocky cliffs and into a serene plunge pool surrounded by lush flora and native bushes. We will finish off the day of adventure with experiencing sunset along Karekare beach, one of Auckland's most beautiful black sand beaches.
DAY 3 - APRIL 3
We will witness and photograph our second sunrise along Westhaven Marina this morning. The tranquil and reflective waters beneath the sailboats along the harbour bridge is a perfect place to watch as dawn breaks the horizon.
After our breakfast, we will begin our second photography masterclass where I discuss compositions, the how's and the why's and I dive a little bit deeper into my post processing workflow with Lightroom and Photoshop.
We will then spend the rest of our day exploring the rugged coastlines and lush ranges of Piha where I will take you to some of my favourite locations.
After a spectacular sunset and a wonderful dinner, we will stay to watch the stars light up the dark skies, following some night photography before heading back to our hotel to end another day of adventure and photography.
DAY 4 - APRIL 4
Our final sunrise session takes us to beautiful Torbay, where we will watch the day break here along Waiake beach. This is one of my favourite places at sunrise, with the mighty Tor and Rangitoto island in view as the sun rises above the cliffs of Pohutukawa trees.
After breakfast, we will head into another photography masterclass where we will look at familiarizing with our own workflows, finding your unique touch along with individual feedback sessions with everyone in the group.
Taking all that we've learnt from the workshop, we will head off on an amazing scenic flight above the city of Auckland, Rangitoto Island and the paradise islands on the Hauraki Gulf. This will be an experience to remember as we photograph Auckland from the skies and a new perspective.
For dinner tonight, we will hop on a 50 foot yacht and enjoy a great sail through the Waitemata harbour with a three course dinner provided on board by top viaduct restaurant, Coops. This will certainly be a night to remember.
FINAL DAY - APRIL 5
For our final morning of our Auckland Treasures Photography Workshop, we will rest in and have our bags packed and ready for checking out of our accommodation.
After we have checked out, we will head back into our conference room for our last master class and a get together. We will look back on our favourite images from the workshop and I will answer any final questions from our group.
With our memory cards full of beautiful images and our hearts with content, we will not say goodbye but instead "see you again", as we mark an end to an amazing workshop and time together.
